Austin Patterson Disston Architects has regularly won awards and consistently been published in both magazines and books since the firm’s inception in 1982.
With offices in Southport, Connecticut and Quogue, the firm is clearly comfortable taking on large, residential projects. And while there is an obvious and pleasing formality and grandeur with much of their work, it is also infused with inventiveness not often found in traditional architecture.
Attention to detail is also one of their strong suits - whether it’s in renovation, restoration, design of new structures, site planning, master planning, interior design or landscape design.
A recent AIA design award won by the firm includes a statement from jury member Terence Riley, Curator of Architecture at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. ''At a moment when many architects are interested in history, this is a rare house to hit a note of authenticity and not simply stylistic revival. The architect knows the traditional language of architecture and deploys it quite well, and also knows when to slow down.''
Enjoy.
